A Charonite Ogryn Section serves as the ultimate line-breaking shock infantry for the Solar Auxilia in Warhammer: The Horus Heresy , comprised of hulking abhumans who have been brutally altered in both mind and body. Extensively augmented with questionable, borderline heretical Dark Age of Technology biochemics and cybernetics, these creatures are kept in a state of drug-induced frenzy and blind, brute obedience. To maximize their destructive potential in the close confines of boarding actions or trenches, their hands and forearms are entirely amputated and surgically replaced with integrated industrial weaponry—such as power armour-shredding Charonite claws, blades, crushers, and shredders. Clad in heavy void armor and controlled via drug-injectors and emergency kill-switches, these terrifying juggernauts are deployed into the deadliest press of melee combat, providing ordinary human cohorts with the raw, terrifying muscle needed to tear through heavy bulkheads, smash vehicles, and match the sheer physical ferocity of Legiones Astartes.
